H.E. DR. LE THI TUYET MAI

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary​

Permanent Representative of the S.R. of Viet Na​​m

to the United Nations, the World Trade Organization

and o​ther International Organizations in Geneva, Switzerland

H.E. Ambassador Le Thi Tuyet Mai was born in 1967 in Ha Noi, Viet Nam. She is a career diplomat having served in different positions in the diplomatic service of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam since she joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1991.

On 8 February 2020, she began her term of office in the capacity of  Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representative of the Socialist Republic of Viet Na m to the United Nations, the World Trade Organization and o ther International Organizations in Geneva, Switzerland, as accredited by H.E. President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam Nguyen Phu Trong.

Prior to her appointment to Geneva, H.E. Le Thi Tuyet Mai had been serving as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Viet Na m to the Kingdom of Norway from 2013 September to 2016 October. She has also served in different positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, such as Director General of the Department of International Law and Treaties from  2017 May to February 2020, Acting Director General of the same Department from 2016 November to 2017 May, Vice Chair of the Committee for the Advancement of Women of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2017 March to 2020 February, Deputy Director General of the Department of International Law and Treaties for the periods from 2010 October to 2013 September and from 2007 July to 2008 February, Head of Division and then Assistant Director General of the Department of International Law and Treaties from 2005 November to 2007 July. She was Spouse of Minister Counselor, Vietnamese Embassy to the United States of America from 2008 March to 2010 September. She served as Legal Officer, Department of International Law and Treaties, Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1991 to 2005 October.

H.E. Ambassador Le Thi Tuyet Mai was graduated from the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam in Ha Noi, awarded with a Bachelor of International Relations (1988). She studied Russian at the University of Kiev, Ukraine from 1988-1989, and later studied at Yokohama National University, Yokohama city, Japan where she received a PhD (2000) and a Master (1997) in international economic law.

H.E. Ambassador Le Thi Tuyet Mai is married to Ambassador Hoang Anh Tuan with two children./.
